ITALIANS DO IT BETTER AT KOKO
Deadly People present...

ITALIANS DO IT BETTER AT KOKO
Thursday 11th June 7.30pm- 1am
Koko, 1A Camden High St, London NW1 7JE
EXCLUSIVE PERFORMANCES FROM:
Lindstrom (LIVE, Norway)
Glass Candy (LIVE, USA)
Desire (LIVE, USA)
Twisted Wires (LIVE, USA)
Mike Simonetti (DJ, USA)
When an artist plays only once a year in the country you know they’re special. We have such an artist in Lindstrom. He’s widely lauded as being at the forefront of a now very popular cosmic disco movement and has been for many years producing classic tracks and collaborating flawlessly.
In support of Lindstrom’s only headline slot in London this year is the crème de la crème of the most sought after independent record label in the US, Italians Do It Better. Italians… is the home of Glass Candy, a band whose impact on the live disco scene on both sides of the Atlantic has helped stoke the fire of the disco revival. We’ll also have the UK debuts of two other bands that go by the name of Desire (featuring Johnny Jewel of Chromatics) and Twisted Wires.
This will be the very first time anyone will see all of these bands together on the same bill and it’s likely to be the last as it has taken us months of preparation to bring it all together. It is our dream gig. If you’re looking for an event that you cannot miss, this is it. This will be an ‘I was there’ gig. All of the performers are headliners in their own right so make sure you’re in attendance.
The DJ throughout the night will be the man behind Italians Do It Better, Mike Simonetti.

WOWZERS!
Anyone who's appreciated the electronic beat of the drum for more than a minute will know about Etienne De Crecy through both of his Super Discount 10" series', with all 8 records considered essential 'pieces' in one's collection. He's obviously done much more than that too and quite rightly is regarded as a legend in French electronic music.
Always looking to merge his exciting, often banging, peak-time music with his passion for art and design, Etienne is now bringing his uniquely stunning live show to the UK. Er yes, that is the one with him in the middle of a 30 foot structure that looks like a porthole into the land of Tron.
Exciting stuff and indeed a feast on the eyes as well as the ears and dancing toes.
You can catch Etienne De Crecy alongside Azzido Da Bass and Headman at Matter in London on Friday 27th March. Be there or be a laser cube.
This video shows you what you'll miss or if you do go, what you'll expect to enjoy. Rave on.

The exhibition will then come to London and on to New York later in the year. Keep you eyes peeled for more info.

Topman CTRL curated by Metronomy

One of the UK’s hottest young menswear brands, Topman, will be launching a unique music platform, curated by some of the most exciting artists of the moment on Monday, March 2nd.
Entitled TOPMAN CTRL, it will be an ongoing monthly series in which some of the most innovative, edgy and emerging musical talent will be taking control of Topman’s music programme and revealing their own personal artistic passions in the process.
Each month a different ‘controller’ will curate live events in cities across the UK, featuring electric performances from up-and-coming live bands and djs.
They will also take control of the Topman CTRL blog (www.myspace.com/topmanctrl) with their favourite tips, select a daily track for the page and maintain a ‘scrapbook’ of all things interesting and exciting to them. Weekly themes will expose the cultural passions behind some of the most original musicians around - music, film, fashion, art and more - treating readers to new and exciting discoveries each week.
Already confirmed as the first two Topman controllers are artists who have stormed the UK: Metronomy (March) and Ladyhawke (April).

Fever Ray - 'When I Grow Up'
This is the amazing video for Fever Ray's new single When I Grow Up. Directed by Martin de Thurrah, here he describes the work:
“That initial idea was something about something coming out of water - something which was about to take form - a state turning into something new. And a double headed creature not deciding which where to turn. But the idea had to take a simpler form, to let the song grow by itself. I remembered a photo I took in Croatia two years ago, a swimming pool with its shining blue color in a grey foggy autumn landscape.”
You can pre-order the album "Fever Ray" from Rough Trade here now.
